Kitchen

I am drawn to the quiet presence of humble objects and the rituals that surround food. Using gold leaf, I elevate the everyday, inviting closer attention to the fleeting moments of illumination, both physical and didactic

Much of this work begins in the kitchen, where I photograph a shaft of light falling across a chopping board, or a fruit bowl. These transient moments speak to both abundance and impermanence. They mark a point within a larger cycle of growth, consumption, decay, and renewal.

The vegetable peelings and food scraps left behind are returned to the compost, where they slowly transform into fertile soil, nourishing future harvests. In this way, the work reflects the circular nature of life itself, revealing the connections between domestic rituals and broader ecological systems.

By bringing together observations of food, light, and transformation, I seek to honor the extraordinary within the ordinary. These images and objects become part of a larger narrative—one that recognizes the beauty, fragility, and interconnectedness woven through the fabric of daily life.
